The main functions of a notary are to witness and authenticate the execution of certain documents, and verify the identity of the signers. This includes legally verifying that signatures, marks and copies of documents are true or genuine, as well as, legally administering oaths, affirmations or statutory declarations. The proper authentication of such documents are recognized with the use of a notary’s seal and signature.
